What is the Warm Front Scheme?

If you are considering improving your home’s insulation or heating you may be eligible for a Warm Front grant.

The Warm Front Scheme is designed to assist homeowners and tenants in England to more efficiently heat their homes, thus reducing heating bills as well as carbon emissions. There are similar schemes in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The Warm Front Scheme is available to a wide selection of people on various benefits. You may be eligible, for example, if you receive Child Tax Credit (with an income under £16,040), Disability Living Allowance or Housing Benefit (including disability premium). In addition applicants with children under 16 years of age or who are pregnant may be eligible if they receive benefits such as Income Support. Over 60s who receive benefits such as Housing Benefit may also be able to claim a grant from the Warm Front Scheme.

The Warm Front grant will go towards, and in some cases, completely cover the costs for, insulating your home (such as installing loft insulation or cavity wall insulation) or installing new heating systems (for example installing central heating. The grant is worth £3,500 or up to £6,000 if you require oil central heating.
